The Northern Apparel Manufacturing Expansion Development (NAMED) is a private initiative wholly owned by Northshore Apparel Limited and supported by NDA. The objective is to establish and develop an apparel value chain in the northern ecological zone.

The goal of the Northern Apparel Manufacturing Expansion Development (NAMED) is to support activities of Northern Development Authority (NDA) to develop a vibrant apparel industry and contribute towards addressing the economic, human and social development needs of the Northern ecological zone.

The plant shall focus on high-volume, long-shelf-life items using synthetic fibers and cotton or cotton blends: promotional, sports / lifestyle and uniforms / work wear.

Northshore shall commission the first apparel village in 2022 in Tamale. Beyond this transformative project, we intend to explore further backward integration opportunities into yarn spinning and raw materials procurement.

Develop a continental supply chain platform for both cotton sourcing for blended fibers to feed our mill, as well as export, finished goods via The African Continental Free Trade Area.

West Africa is one of the leading cotton exporters in the world, led by Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, and Togo. Effectively all West Africa’s cotton production is exported for processing overseas, primarily by Asian textile companies

In collaboration with other stakeholders, conduct detailed scientific research and feasibility studies into the viability of revamping the cotton industry in the northern ecological belt of Ghana. Based on the outcome of the research, a cotton out grower scheme in the manner of the Ghana Rubber Estates Limited (GREL) – Rubber Outgrower Plantation Project (ROPP) scheme as well as a cotton ginnery, and a fabric mill shall be established leveraging on the outputs from the outgrower scheme. The cotton ginnery plant shall be located at Wa, whilst the Mill situated at Bolgatanga.
